FAQ

What people ask us

How long does a bathroom remodel take?

It depends on the size and the plan. A simple swap of fixtures can take days. A tub-to-shower conversion or a full gut job often takes a few weeks. Custom tile, special orders and hidden problems behind walls can add time. Ask each provider for a written schedule. Then compare those schedules side by side before you pick one.

How long will my kitchen be out of use?

Most kitchen projects take several weeks, and larger ones take longer. Cabinets and counters are often the slow part, because they are made to order. Ask the provider about lead times up front. Many providers can set up a simple temporary kitchen, like a hot plate and a small fridge, in another room.

Will insurance pay for my remodel?

Usually not for upgrades. Some policies may cover sudden damage, like a burst pipe, but not wear or age. Check your policy and ask your agent. If a claim is involved, providers can often help document the damage with photos and written notes. Coverage depends on your plan, so confirm details with your insurer.

Is remodeling safe with kids and pets at home?

It can be, with a plan. Ask the provider to block off the work zone, keep tools out of reach and clean up daily. Dust, loose nails and open floors are the main risks. Older frame homes may also hide old paint or materials, so ask how the provider tests and handles them.

How much does a remodel typically cost?

Costs vary a lot by job. In the U.S., a bathroom update often runs from a few thousand dollars to well past twenty thousand. Kitchens often cost more. Materials, layout changes and plumbing all move the price. Get at least two or three written quotes, and ask what each one includes.

What should I ask before I hire a provider?

Ask about license and insurance, the start date, the end date and who handles permits. Ask how change orders work. A change order is a written price change for added work. Get everything in writing. If an answer sounds vague, ask again in plain words.

Does Codelq Remodeling do the remodeling work?

No. Codelq Remodeling is a referral service. It connects you with independent providers in our network. The provider you choose does the work and sets the price. You can request estimates, compare them and decide with no obligation to hire anyone.

Can I remodel in winter or during storm season?

Often yes. Indoor work can go on all year, even when the Wixom area sees deep frost or heavy storms. Deliveries and outdoor steps, like moving materials, can slip with bad weather. A basement with a sump pump, which is a pump that clears water, needs care when wet seasons hit. Ask each provider how they plan around weather.
